Suni Williams Named The Crew Capsule Calypso In 2019

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will be the first to fly aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft to the International Space Station, and the name of the spacecraft ferrying them to the orbiting laboratory holds a special place in Williams’ heart. Williams named the crew capsule Calypso in 2019 to pay tribute to the explorer Jacques Cousteau, who sailed across the world on his own ship named bearing the same name. Cousteau’s goal was to learn about the ocean and teach others about the wonders of the sea.

FRCE Restores Historic Aircraft To Former Glory

This Was The Depot’s First Time Restoring An A-4 Skyhawk For Historical Display

Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) artisans recently had the rare opportunity to restore a piece of aviation history for display onboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) opened its doors Dec. 16, 1943 as the Assembly and Repair Department at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. As an aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul facility, FRCE’s Aircraft Clean and Paint shops prime and paint each aircraft that passes through the facility. However, artisans had the chance to “travel back in time” as they restored a retired Douglas A-4M Skyhawk – a platform that has not been serviced by the depot in more than 20 years – to its former glory.

Lake Amphibian Club (LAC) Received Approximately 27 Reports Of Cracks In The Wing Rear Spar Web

The FAA has issued a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) that alerts all owners, operators, maintenance technicians, and inspectors of Revo Incorporated Model Colonial C-1, Colonial C-2, Lake LA-4, Lake LA-4A, Lake LA-4P, Lake LA-4-200, Lake Model 250 (including those modified in accordance with Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) SA469NE) and Lake 270 Turbo Renegade (Model 250 with STC AS469NE as noted in TCDS 1A13 Note 8) aircraft to potential cracks in the wing rear attach beam assembly and hole-quality issues that have been identified in a significant number of aircraft.

Tucson Air Branch UH-60 Rescues Migrant Enroute To SAR Demo

Air And Marine Operations Crews Have Rescued 98 People Since The Beginning Of Fiscal Year 2024

A Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) UH-60 aircrew rescued a man trapped in rugged terrain in the Baboquivari Mountain region on April 30. The Tucson Air Branch aircrew was en route to a media event to demonstrate Search and Rescue (SAR) procedures for visiting journalists. During the transit, the aircrew diverted to respond to reports of an undocumented migrant in distress in the remote mountain range.

Maryland State Police Aviation AW-139s Conduct Rescue

AW-139 Helps Motor Vehicle Crash Victim in Allegany County< MD

The Maryland State Police Aviation Command had its work cut out for it, last week, as it rescued a man injured from a motor vehicle rollover down an 80-foot embankment in Allegany County. At approximately 6:50 a.m. on May 3, 2024, Maryland State Police Aviation Command was requested to assist Allegany County Fire and EMS personnel with a motor vehicle accident with entrapment, over an embankment. The Trooper 5 helo, based out of the Cumberland Section, responded to the scene. While on scene, the crew of Trooper 5 was able to make contact with the patient and rescue crews.

First Two WorldView Legion Spacecraft Join Constellation

Readying To Collect Imagery Of The Most Rapidly Changing Areas On Earth As Frequently As Every 20 To 30 Minutes

Maxar Intelligence has confirmed that the first two WorldView Legion satellites are performing well after being launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket last week from Vandenberg SFB, California. Shortly after launch, the satellites deployed their solar arrays and began receiving and sending signals. These satellites will undergo commissioning, and Maxar Intelligence expects first images from the spacecraft later this spring.
